It’s Halloween! What Better Time of Year to Tell You More About Mummification Bondage!

Mummification Banner

I love Halloween. It’s spooky season and for a lot of people it brings out their naughty side. We dress up, we role play as someone else, and a lot of people use Halloween as an excuse to explore a fetish they’ve always been curious about. Halloween is this weekend so when a friend of mine said she’s like to read more on Mummification it seemed like the perfect timing. What better fetish to explore during the spooky season? Ok, so we’re not talking about role playing as Tutankhamen, (Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh) although you can if that’s your thing. I’m talking about Mummification fetish where the Submissive is wrapped up until they can’t move.

Mummification bondage fetish is up there with some of the riskier kinks. It can be exhilarating and a lot of fun for both the Dominant and the Submissive, but a lot of care needs to be taken to make sure that it is safe. When playing with mummification we need to consider the Submissives ability to breathe, their circulation, and prevent them from getting dehydrated. Due to the intensity of this type of play it’s important to have your aftercare kit at the ready. A towel, blanket, chocolate, and lots of water are the mere basics needed for aftercare for a mummification session and I’ll explain why later in the article.

Why Mummification is exciting

Some Submissives enjoy giving up complete control to their Dommes in more ways than one. Mummification allows them to give up control of their movement, their sexuality, and their senses. While the Submissive is ‘cocooned’ they are completely at the will of their Dom(me). Their Dom(me) may decide to use or tease them sexually or they may deny them sexual gratification and humiliate them by leaving their genitals exposed. The Dom(me) may also decide to include sensory deprivation by adding a blindfold or headphones. This will add an extra layer of warmth and can create a subspace for them to float in. There can also be a sense of comfort found in the mummification, a sort of ‘womb like’ environment where our most primal sense of comfort and relaxation can be found.

Good materials for Mummification Bondage

Cling Film/Saran Wrap/Plastic Wrap – Whatever you want to call it, this is a cheap and easy material to use. Because it is so cheap there is no concerns about cutting the Submissive out of the wrap. The Dom(me) does need to keep an eye on their Submissive when using this material because it does not breath and therefore can cause overheating and dehydration.

Duct Tape – This is another cheap material and it’s also very strong. Duct Tape works very well if you want to enjoy some role playing that’s a bit more aggressive. A kidnapping or abduction scene is perfect for using duct tape. Duct tape is another material that doesn’t breathe so, once again, be cautious of over heating and dehydration. As I’m sure you already know, duct tape is sticky so therefore it sticks and pulls at the skin. A good practice when using duct tape is to put a layer of cling film or stocking between the Submissives skin and the tape.

Medical Bandages – Medical wraps (and tape to secure them) can be a great addition to any Medical play scene. They’re a little more expensive but they really work. These are more breathable than the previous two suggestions and have more stretch so can give a tighter bind. But be careful of the stretch in them. They may not have as much give as you think. You need to be careful not to cut off circulation. You also need to be conscious of the bandages rolling and bunching at the joints which would be another risk to circulation.

These are just a few suggestions of materials you can use. The key thing when picking a bondage material is to first consider the potential risks, they could bring so that you are prepared.

Types of Mummification

Complete Wrapping. Be sure to leave airways clear.

I’m writing these in order of intensity. It’s best to start small and build up to more intense play.

Zone Wrapping – This is where you only wrap up parts at a time. E.g. Only wrap the legs and bottom of the torso. This is great for newbies to the style of bondage. The pair can figure out their limits and get used to the sensation of restriction. It’s a great safe way to get play and get used to the play.

Partial Wrapping – Wrapping for the neck down to the ankles. (Some like to leave holes for the breasts/genitals for either humiliation or sexual purposes) This can be incorporated with sensory deprivation if a blindfold/headphone are added for extra excitement. The Submissives mouth is free to verbally communicate any limits or complications and all breathing passages are clear.

Complete Wrapping – This is the most dangerous and definitely shouldn’t be tried by newbies. The body is wrapped from head to toe with only passages for breathing exposed. The Submissive may use breathing tubes during this play. The psychological impact this level of restriction can have on a Submissive is intense, but we must respect the dangers of this and play safely.

Tips

  • Make sure you both go to the toilet beforehand. It may sound obvious for the Submissive, but the Dom(me) needs to go beforehand too so that they don’t need to leave the Submissive unattended.
  • The Submissive should take a big deep breath before wrapping the torso. This allows the Submissive to breath comfortably during the scene.
  • Read and study safe ways to wrap the body. Safety is key so it’s worth the research.
  • NEVER EVER leave the Submissive alone.
  • Watch for overheating or dehydration
  • If there is any discolouration in the Submissives skin, any form of unusual breathing, or if their speech starts to slur then you must stop immediately and cut them loose.

Aftercare

Blankets and fluffy socks are always a win for aftercare

As in any kinky session, aftercare is very important. Due to the extreme nature of Mummification aftercare is more vital than ever. When the Submissive is unwrapped/cut free you need to have a towel at the ready. While being wrapped their body temperature will have risen. You don’t want this to drop too quickly and so you’ll need to dry the sweat off them and wrap them in a blanket. They’ll be dehydrated and so plenty of fresh water is vital. Chocolate is also good to have on hand. Not only is it comforting but the slow release sugar is great to prevent subdrop and a general crash.

Mummification is an exciting and invigorating style of play but with all BDSM make sure you practice RACK, SSC, and PRICK. While it can be easy to get carried away the safety of all involved is always the most important thing. Have a kinky Halloween you lot!

  1. This is the kink I never thought I needed until now. Reading this definitely makes me want to try it. I like the idea of using clingfilm first cause it’s easy to get cut out of.
