Monsters scare the living sh*t out of me. But do they scare the living kink out of me?

Horror films scare me, but I love them. Ever since I was a little kid and ‘Aaahh!!! Real Monsters’ (I’m showing my age there I know) would come on the TV, I’d be scared but also couldn’t turn away. I loved the adrenaline rush. I continued watching horror movies and shows as I grew up, be it ‘The Adams Family’, ‘Goosebumps’ or ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ (seriously, if you don’t know these shows then you probably still get IDed buying alcohol!). But while I enjoy the fear factor, I’ve never had the sexual excitement come from watching a horror show/movie. That’s a lie. One of my first TV crushes was Spike from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. So, what is it about monsters that get people so worked up? What is it about those who love monsters that make them want to go bump in the night?

‘Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, if you don’t know it… Watch it!

Sounds weird, but what have you been watching?

Teratophilia isn’t as uncommon as you think, and it’s actually become more mainstream in the last ten years or so. We’ve seen surges of monster franchises. The ‘Twilight’ books and movies, ‘Vampire Diaries’, ‘True Blood’and the ‘American Horror Story’are all ones that spring to my mind. They are adult, they feature good looking actors and actresses, and they contain a lot of sex between monsters and humans.

Quite often the shows and movies that make it bigger in the mainstream circuit are the ones featuring vampires and werewolves – and this makes sense to me. They are the monsters that can appear most similar in appearance to humans. But what about the incredibly popular Japanese fantasy about being ravished by the Umibōzu, giant octopus-like creatures similar to the Kraken? These creatures feature heavily in the hentai genre of animation in Japanese culture and are highly sexualised. They don’t resemble humans at all.

What’s the psychology behind this fetish?

As I’ve written before; if something exists, there’s a porn for it (some of it is hilariously bad! some is pretty good!) And so, of course, there are tonnes of werewolf, vampire, octopus, zombie, Bigfoot, alien, Minotaur, and whatever monster you can think of porn out there. But what is it people get out of this? Well it’s the escapism and the safety of the fantasy. Watching an episode of Slutever, I learned that part of the pleasure of monster porn is that, yes you can be ravaged and encounter these dark, scary sexual experiences. BUT there’s a level of safety. In knowing that these creatures don’t exist, you’re not in danger of it actually happening. So, you can be seduced by this beast and they can throw you all around the place, but you can’t actually get hurt in real life

Visuals are all well and good. But what about toys?

These wild fantasies don’t have to just be a visual or literate stimulus. There are also a number of websites that make all sorts of weird and wonderful sex toys to fit in with the genre. KudoVoodoo and Primal Hardwere are two that come to mind. I looked through their catalogues and the range and variety of products they sell is amazing, and a lot of it is customizable too! You want to get fucked by a dragon? They’ve got a dildo for that! How about receiving head from a werewolf with a 36” tongue? Or for the men there’s tentacles and cute little bunny butts to play with.

What amazed me the most was the Ovipositors. These are so completely out there! These work with the fetish of having the monster lay eggs inside you (male/female, these monsters don’t discriminate). So, these alien or sea monster style tentacles are made that you can squeeze a gelatine egg inside. (gelatine is safe to use as it will melt if there’s any complications) Then the tentacle lays the egg in you for the ultimate in monster fantasy – carrying your monsters’ unborn egg!

The weird and wonderful world of kink

My mind has been totally blown while exploring this side of kink I knew very little about. There’s so much to it. And it’s not all just sex scenes. There are tonnes of erotic novels and stories written about this genre that include an actual love story to them – normally including seduction and coercion. To someone from the outside looking in they can seem very aggressive and “rapey” but to the readers and viewers who understand the world more, it’s about the seduction.

While researching this I found this hilarious monster fetish video on YouTube, so I thought I’d share it with you. It’s safe to watch around others and myself and my partner had a good giggle watching it.

A lot of the Monster porn I’ve come across is pretty poor. I’ll have to improve my search skills cause I’m definitely interested!

I’ve had a look at these two fetish toy sites and I think I might just have a new fetish as some of the toys look AMAZING

I’ve never been in to the Twighlight books/movies but I love getting bitten. The “monster” Aslan from the Narnia books always did seem super hot to me though!
