The world we live in is becoming more and more digital every day. With the current global pandemic this statement could not be more true. More and more people are working from home these days. SWers are not an exception to this. There’s always been a market for online sex work and content creation, that actually caters to its own fetish, but with the pandemic sex workers that have only ever done real time before are now going digital.

Content creation is not easy. It takes a lot of creativity to stand out from the crowd. Does this require a lot of money? Not necessarily. I want to talk to you about how you can make effective content on a budget.

Shooting your content

So, naturally, if you have a proper camera, you’re going to want to use this. But how many of us really do? Unless you’re big on photography or film making you won’t have a DSLR in your house. Even if you are into both these things, a DSLR is a big investment. If you have a good quality camera on your phone then you’re good to go. Phone cameras are so advanced now that you can shoot great footage using them. Maybe consider this the next time you’re due an upgrade/a Sub wants to buy you a gift. Spending that little bit more on your phone could make you a lot of cash in the long run.

Lighting your content

You don’t need the fanciest equipment but a ring light can really make a difference

This goes hand in hand with your camera. Lighting can really make your content look great. Whether you’re looking to add a dark and mysterious vibe to your content, a dewy and angelic soft lighting, or a intense look with a dramatic contrast, lighting is how you can achieve this. In the film any college film project, one of the most commonly heard phrases is “We’ll just fix that in post (production)”. As a previous film student I can tell you to save yourself the hassle and just light your set well to begin with. Natural daylight is best to work with because it’ll pick up the most detail and then you can add whatever effects you want to it. During this cold and dark winter nights, natural lighting is a rare thing.

My best investment since starting content creation has been a ring light. The one I bought was less than €10 and it came with a phone holder and multiple settings and volumes. You can invest in more expensive ones with better stands and a remote that isn’t attached to the power chord but I wanted to see the results for myself. BEST PURCHASE I’ve made! I will definitely be upgrading don the line. I still have some playing around to do with it to figure out the settings I like but the quality of my photos is so much better.

Editing and Watermarking your content

This is the app I use. I love it.

The way you edit your clip together tells a story. The way you edit your videos can really add another level to them. A simple editing app that you can get on your phone does just the trick. You can edit out mistakes, add filters to give your video a certain style, and most importantly Watermark your content. I’ve mentioned before how important Watermarking your content is vital to ensuring your content isn’t stolen.

A really easy to use phone editing app is YouCut. It has lots of filters and effects you can add to the video to give it that extra oomph. It has loads of great features that can transform a video into a hypnotising experience. A great thing about this app is that you can unlock all the premium features and remove their own watermark for $4.99 per/year! That’s nothing. You’ll have it paid off in the sale of one clip.

What platforms should I use?

There are so many different platforms for you to post your content on. The key is to find the one that works for you. Certain platforms focus in on different niches. Find the one that your content works best on. It might be beneficial to have different content for different platforms. Personally, I like AdmireMe. It’s a platform run by sex workers for sex workers. I’ve found the community there to be the right fit for me.

These are just a few tips and tricks to making good content on a budget. It’s totally fine to take inspiration from other content creators but be careful that your inspiration isn’t straight up copying. Firstly, you don’t want to be known as the copycat, word gets around and you will cause disputes with your fellow SWers. Secondly, it’s unoriginal and won’t help you to stand out from the crowd. Being unique is where your money will start flowing in. Most importantly, make the content YOU enjoy making. Happy creating!
